Introducing Myself

There’s a lot of information out there on health and wellness. As a triple-boarded physician who’s engaged with our healthcare system and worked with my patients, I offer my perspective. I want you to find useful and intriguing ideas here, and I’d love to learn more from you, as well.

I am a general (adult) as well as child and adolescent psychiatrist. I also am a specialist in sleep medicine. I’ve worked in academia, managed care (an HMO), administrative medicine, and private practice. I have taught alongside many medical students and residents.

Why do this blog?

  • Because it gives me greater reach than simply working with one person at a time.
  • Because it will help me explore new directions for education and self-help guidance.

The topics I plan to write about include:

  • How to get out of the way of your body’s innate sleep systems so you can achieve the restful unbroken sleep you want. Once you understand how your body’s sleep/wake systems operate, you’ll become your own problem-solver on insomnia.
  • Managing anxiety and avoidance
  • Understanding how to talk with your doctor about how long you should continue on psychiatric medication
  • Alternative paths for teens who aren’t fitting into the standard secondary school-to-college track
  • Workplace stress

I look forward to discovering how this evolves in coming weeks and months!
